Step back to the golden era of majestic river boats on The Graceful Ghost, an authentic recreation of an 1800's steamboat complete with wood-fired boiler, steam whistle, and a working paddle wheel. Relive the romance of genteel steamboat travel, complete with Oriental rugs, Victorian decor, gleaming varnished wood, and even the occasional spittoon, as we travel part of the same route used by steamboats in the 19th century.

Experience the awesome beauty of Caddo Lake as you lose yourself among the cypress trees, Spanish moss, and waterlilies.

The Captains of the Graceful Ghost
Steamboat Captains Jim and Lexie McMillen share piloting duties on their own 1800s era replica paddlewheel steamboat, while delighting visitors from around the world with tranquil rides through moss-draped cypresses accompanied by the gentle shuss of steam and the quiet splash of the paddlewheel.

Captain Jim McMillen, a U.S. Naval officer during the Vietnam War, is licensed by the Coast Guard as a Master of Steam and Motor Vessels.  He developed his shipwright skills while building a wooden sailing ketch.

Captain Lexie Palmore McMillen is the only woman in America to hold an Unlimited Inland Master's License and First Class Pilot's License on the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers.  She has piloted America's major river boats, including the Delta Queen, the Natchez, the Mississippi Queen, and the President.

We offer tours daily, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Spring offers pleasant weather and the greening of Caddo, Summer is the lush growth of lotus lilies, an aquatic garden, Fall is crisp weather and the flamboyant coloring of the Cypresses.
