Relive the romance of genteel steamboat travel, complete with Oriental rugs, Victorian decor, gleaming varnished wood, and even the occasional spittoon, as we travel part of the same route used by steamboats in the 19th century. Experience the awesome beauty of Caddo Lake as you lose yourself among the cypress trees, Spanish moss, and waterlilies. With the scenery sliding by, you'll learn about Caddo and its mysteries as we talk about the history, ecology, and lore, the past, present and future of this amazing place. The
Captains of the Graceful Ghost Captain Jim McMillen, a U.S. Naval officer during the Vietnam War, is licensed by the Coast Guard as a Master of Steam and Motor Vessels. He developed his shipwright skills while building a wooden sailing ketch. Captain Lexie Palmore McMillen is the only woman in America to hold an Unlimited Inland Master's License and First Class Pilot's License on the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. She has piloted America's major river boats, including the Delta Queen, the Natchez, the Mississippi Queen, and the President. |
